The first time I heard Milla Brune’s sultry, calming vocals, I fell in love at first listen. This soul/jazz singer-songwriter hailing from Brussels, Belgium has a diverse musical background with hints of Lauryn Hill and Lalah Hathaway in her low register.
Milla has toured around the world with West African artist John Arcadius, world music artist Zap Mama, Congo-Belgium rapper Baloji, and the late rapper Guru to name a few. She even featured on the late emcee’s Jazzmatazz project. Mind you, she accomplished all of this without even having an album out. (Milla, that is some resume, girl!)
In 2009, she began working on her first project, an EP, entitled There’s Love. Since then, she’s been in the lab cooking up her new EP, The Other Woman, which is described as “a stew of pop, urban, soul and jazz that explores and experiments with an acoustic and minimalist approach centered around the strength, sensibility and fragility of her voice.”
